What counts as a “conversation”?
A conversation is one resident question plus the bot’s response. Conversations reset monthly on your billing date.
What happens if I hit my conversation limit?
On Starter, the chat widget displays a brief “service temporarily unavailable” message until the next billing cycle. On Standard and Pro, overage conversations are charged at the per-conversation rate shown on your plan.
Are LLM / AI API costs included?
Yes. Every plan includes all AI costs. There are no additional API charges, no GPT usage fees, and no per-message surcharges. What you see is what you pay.
Can I white-label the chatbot with my municipality’s name?
Yes, on Standard and above. This is the feature we call the “Ask Marge model” — give your bot any name and voice that fits your town. Ask Marge, Ask Max, Ask Bayview — your residents won’t see AskPortal branding unless you want them to.
What does “crawled URLs” mean?
We automatically crawl your municipal website and index the content. For a town like Sea Bright, NJ, that’s 5,000+ pages indexed — meeting agendas, ordinances, permit instructions, event calendars. The limit defines how many of those pages are in your bot’s active knowledge base.
Can I switch plans?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades are prorated immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.
